Dopamine Dressing like a Boss

Never before has Dopamine Dressing been more important.

I don't know about you, but I've always dressed for my mood.  Sometimes it may take three or four clothes changes before it "feels" right.  And lately, with the world all crazy and seemingly out of control, for me, it's bright colours and my "happy" clothes that are helping me get through the days.

Dopamine Dressing is based on the idea that wearing overtly fun and happy clothes can help lift your mood in depressing times.  It's dressing yourself happy.

According to Carolyn Mair, a psychologist who has developed an MA course in fashion psychology at the London College of Fashion, it’s as much about you – and what meaning you believe your clothes have – as it is about the clothes.
When people believe in the symbolic meaning of their clothes, it can affect their cognitive processes, and part of those are your emotions.”

So whether it's a bright colourful jumper, a "Choose Joy' Tee Shirt, an ethically made or organic cotton top, or your fave pair of jeans....put them on high rotation.   Wear what makes you happy!  It's a game changer.

Now I know wearing colourful clothes isn't for everyone.  So if you're not sure if Dopamine Dressing is for you, why not give it a try in isolation (goodness knows we're having lots of practice).   See how it makes you feel.   And maybe bright colours aren't your jam, but I think wearing clothes that feel good or make you feel good is a great place to start.  Feel free to share your #dopaminedressing style on our socials and don't forget to tag me #arabesquespringwood

Stay well x
